Come ready with glove, batting helmet (&chin strap), proper shoes (baseball cleats), protective cup &baseball pants. The coaches &assistants will have the players go through some drills to get an idea on skill level to help make evenly matched teams. Teams will be chosen by Tuesday evening (April 18th) &parents will receive an e-mail/call. Some teams will begin practice Wed April 19th. All of these dates are with the hope that the weather cooperates and the fields are ready. We are always looking for Coaches &Assistants...please volunteer if you can, it is fun &much appreciated. It really is a great age to coach &we love enthusiastic parents to come share their knowledge &love of the sport too! Please contact Dan Braddick or President, Michael Sanfilippo if you are interested &want to know what to expect as part of the coaching team. There will be no set daily schedule for each team's games &practices as we only have the 2 fields to use. The season will begin with 2 teams practicing on each field for skill development then into league play. All practices &games are held at Lakeview Park (Peanut Pool Ball Diamonds) in the East Hill area of Vernon. Parents are to remain at the field during practices &games. This is to ensure the safety of your children, in case of an injury you must be at the field to attend to your child as the coaches can only do so much. The kids love to have an audience...A POSITIVE ONE!! Come cheer &enjoy the learning experience. There is no tolerance for negative words (swearing, put downs, etc;) directed at the coaches, players &especially the UMPS!! 2023 Schedule & Format:
Summer baseball tryout dates will be announced later in the season. This year we will also be hosting the 11U AAA Tier 2 Provincials and are excited to be able to host once again. Dan Braddick Mosquito (11U) Director mosquito@vernonbaseball.com |
